Curriculum

Below is our Curriculum for your three years at St. Luke’s. There is ample time in the Emergency Departments as well as time to complete all your ACGME requirements including all your procedures. Most residents have all of the ACGME required procedures completed by the end of second year.

During your Emergency Department months you work a varied number of shifts based on PGY year. PGY-1’s do 18 shifts, PGY-2’s do 17 shifts, and PGY-3’s do 16 shifts. All shifts are 10 hours long with the exception of Thursday, our Conference Day, where shifts are shorter.

We are fortunate enough to have our own Pediatric Emergency Department. During your shifts you will not only see adult patients but pediatric patients. We do not have dedicated pediatric months because every shift you see infants, toddlers, teenagers, adults and the elderly.

Our pediatric ED is situated in an area away from adults and is staffed with a pediatric attending. We manage all acuity of patients here. As a pediatric hospital we also have access to a spectrum of pediatric specialists from the most complex of patients.
