Why St. Luke’s? Having lived in a small town not too far away, I was familiar with the Bethlehem area and all that it has to offer… from the food, breweries, etc but without having the traffic and business of the big cities. Also, I did an audition rotation here, and the residents and faculty welcomed me from the very start. When joining the St. Luke’s EM community, you’re not just getting a great education, you are becoming a part of a family.

Why St. Luke’s? The program has strong academics and is part of one of the best teaching hospitals in the country. The people are kind, and the Lehigh Valley is a great place to raise my family. When I was leaving my interview, I looked at the Bethlehem star on the side of a mountain and knew this was going to be home.

Why St. Luke’s: This program stuck out to me from the moment I set foot in the residency cabin on my interview day. Everyone was very nice, welcoming, and approachable, like a family. Later as a medical student on rotation, the team went out of their way to make sure I was challenged to critically think and learn as much as I could and assist in as many procedures as possible, all of this in a fun, enjoyable, and relaxed environment. On top of all this fun at work, the team has fun outside of work through various wellness activities, which was something that was very important to me when deciding where I wanted to spend the next few years of my training. I truly felt like an important part of the team, even as a student, which made me want to stay with the program as a resident. The people are what make this program amazing.

Why St. Luke’s? I am originally from the Lehigh Valley and therefore I was excited about the opportunity to be back home. During my audition rotation, I remember walking out of the ED after one of my first shifts thinking to myself that this was where I could see myself for the next 3 years. Every resident seemed genuinely happy and extremely well prepared to care for any patient that walked through the door. It was immediately obvious that each attending was passionate about the residency program and creating a positive learning environment. I am excited about the next three years and cannot wait to be a part of this program!

Why St. Luke’s: My biggest draw to SLB was the people. Everyone is supportive and kind and they tend to bring out the best in each other. I knew that this is the type of environment I would best learn in and thrive.

Why St. Luke’s: I met a few of the residents and attendings in workshops the day of the EMRA residency fair and everyone was so kind and passionate about teaching. I was so excited to find and match at such a welcoming program only an hour from home, and one in a great suburban area of PA!
